18 Years Later: How Uncertainty Became My Greatest Career Asset

Throwback to December 2004. Finally got my first job, as a temporary salesman for a Telecom shop. My colleague Caroline Guillemin and I were having a Glühwein during the night opening of the shop for the Christmas Market in the city.

I would NEVER have thought that in the following 18 years :

• The company would offer me a permanent contract after these few temporary weeks
• I would go through 4 mergers and acquisitions and always keep my job
• Without changing employer, I would have the biggest fun doing a job I never heard about at that time
• Those rectangle-shaped glasses would look some awful today
• Most importantly, that my colleague would become my wife ❤

The point is : You can do all the long-term life or career plans you want, you NEVER know what to expect. As long as something doesn't entirely depend on you, there is always a part of uncertainty. So better feel confident with it, and increase your adaptibility... this is one of the most valuable assets in the everchanging world that surrounds us ✌

What a beautiful picture,Erik.🙂🎉

The only constant in life is change and accepting it frees us from so much stress, and worry allowing us to live freely without being too attached to our version of expected outcomes.

Life is always changing, our ability to adapt and roll with the changes makes it easier along the way. Loved hearing your story!
