2005 Mobile Internet: A Hilarious Look at How Far We've Come
__ Flashback to 2005 Internet Mobile __
We all know that technology, and specifically Internet connection, evolves at the speed of light.
As I started working in Telco (as a Sales Advisor at Mobistar) in 2004, I can only relate to this. But it definitely became more concrete and funny when I found back this old "Mobile Internet" training material from 2005. 😀
To highlight :
- Connection speed up to 384kbps (4G+ connection can reach 300Mbps… 780x more)
- As a light user, you paid 0,20€ / minute… just to be connected (yes, it makes it 12€ per hour)
- To use it more often, you paid 6€ per month… for a 2MB data bundle (today for the same price, you have at least 2GB in most offers… indeed 1000x more)
- Intensive usage meant a 10MB montly usage and you paid 15€ for it.
- Of course, using it in France or Netherlands was more expensive : 1,5€ per 100kB. Luckily there was no Netflix back then because 1GB (+/- 1 hour of watching) would have been billed... 15000€.
It may be another of these "OK Boomer" posts but this one goes out to the people who experienced configuring Internet on phones… before they were smart. 😀
