Beyond Screens: 3 Tools to Stay Focused in Remote Meetings

When we're talking about home office setups, we go straight into the technical stuff: screens, headsets, gadgets... but lately, 3 extra tools became a part of my essential setup. 👇

It was already the reason why I switched from a 2-screen setup to a single ultra-wide screen one year ago: Increase my focus by settings apps full-screen (= less distractions).

If it's also difficult for you to stay immobile for a long-ish time, your first reflex might be to use your hands and grab something, like your phone. Which will break your focus and mentally disconnect you from the ongoing discussions. 🫥

To avoid that, my 3 current go-to items are:

→ 3 juggling balls
→ a Decathlon handgrip
→ a stress ball (thanks Jürgen Maus & Karen De Boeck 😄)

It became usual for people to see me in meetings throwing my juggling balls in the air, or use the handgrip. I'm not alpha male-flexing, just trying to keep my body busy while staying focused on the conversation. 😅

Whatever works, right? The most important here is to stay aware of what can be a challenge for you... and find the fitting solutions 😊 Any other tips in mind about staying focused in remote meetings? 💡

I have a fidget cube, you might even recall seeing me at the office with it. I used to be that person who endlessly disassembled and reassembled pens.

Funny, I also have that handgrip trainer on my desk. 🙂 And the juggling balls are in a drawer. But maybe I should put them on my desk to use them a bit more.
