Learning the Same Training Twice: Why Context Matters

In 2019, I joined a OkaloaFlowlab session while I was actively learning everything I could about being a Scrum Master. Everything was new to me (do I dare to mention that I never even worked in a Scrum team before? 🫠) but the takeaway was clear : do less to deliver more and collaborate more.

Last week, I finally took the opportunity to participate to another Flowlab session, facilitated by Evi Plasschaert and Bart Maes for Elia Group.

What is still to learn as I already knew the takeaways and have now 5 years more experience? 🧐

It's pretty simple 👉 You never follow the same training twice. The content might be the same, the way you receive the information is highly depending on your current context. I could link it to concrete situations my teams are going through, which led to concrete action points I want to explore. Following trainings and learning new concepts might fill your knowledge backpack, but your brain is not always able to open the right compartment for a given situation.

Extra win here : I followed it with one of my teams, which means we share this experience and learnings together - which already aligns our views before we even try to put something in place 😊

Thanks Evi and Bart for the session - give it a with a Flowlab if you have the chance too, and consider giving another chance to other previously followed sessions as well 😄

This is what gamification is all about. Practical simulation and learning in a fun but realistic context! 🚀

I had the pleasure meeting Patrick Steyaert in one of his sessions. Dimitri Bauwens maybe worthwhile to share thoughts and partner up? 👊🏼

I really enjoyed facilitating this workshop and agree that each training session offers fresh insights, even if it's the same training.
As a facilitator, after last week's session, I took time to think about my own tasks and reminded myself of an important takeaway: "STOP starting, START finishing"
