Speaking at Regional Scrum Gathering Brussels 2026: The Scrum Master of the Future

This one goes out to all the Scrum Masters who ever experienced a similar Daily Stand-Up. 😅

I came to this job from training and coaching, like a lot of us during the big scaling wave in Belgium, and I learnt quite fast that not understanding what your team talks about becomes a real obstacle in how you can help them. When the same impediment keeps coming back in the daily and you don't really get what's blocking them, it's very hard to help remove it, or even to explain it to the team they depend on. 🥲

The good news is that understanding the conversations is enough, and it's quite doable. I note the words I keep hearing, I google them after the meeting or I book a quick call with someone from the team... in my experience, they really appreciate the curiosity.

If you want a more structured way to level up, you can still have a look at Technical Scrum. Their TSM-1 certification covers cloud, data, DevOps and AI, with a focus on technical literacy for Scrum Masters - and their recently came up with a specific Metrics for Scrum Masters training - shout out to Dave Westgarth for this one

Yes.. its time for more Hard-Skill Scrum Masters! I Agree :) But doesnt mean tech-savvy or you are part of the team. (which its original idea was, but for so many reasons turned into *not* being tech savvy to avoid clash of interests). BUT still; more SM who are on the "technical" side; less feel-good coach and mommy of the team :)!

My eye was twitching while hearing this 😅 As someone working with platform team (UI modules, not Terraform, but the pain is the same), I felt personally attacked. 😀😀😀
